Capacity
150 people with on-site participation and box lunch
(up to 150 people without on-site lunch, conference attendees can also watch online)
Speaker
Dr. Kenta Shirasawa, Director, Laboratory of Plant Genetics and Genomics, Kazusa DNA Research Institute
For the sequencing of genomes of an entire plant entry
Hiroshi Katsumata, Field Application, TOMY Digital Biology
Highly accurate long read sequencing for high quality genome assembly
Seminar Overview
This seminar aims to provide an opportunity for researchers who have not yet experienced much in genome analysis to learn about the current status of plant genome analysis, which has become more familiar. The invited lecturer, Dr. Kenta Shirasawa of Kazusa DNA Research Institute, who is promoting the "Kazusa Genome Project," which aims to decode the genomes of all plant orders as a member of the international project "Earth BioGenome Project" and predict the flowering of Someiyoshino cherry trees based on genomic information introduces his cutting edge research including some rudiments of genome analysis, such as "How much sequencing depth is required, How do you extract genome DNA? and How to analyze the data?" for those who are just starting genome analysis. We will also briefly introduce the basics of PacBio's highly accurate long-read sequencing (HiFi sequencing), which makes this possible.
