The Botanical Society of Japan aims to promote the development of all areas of botany, and to spread botanical knowledge, and thus to contribute to the development of both the humanities and the sciences.
The BSJ aims to achieve the above purpose by:
(1) Holding scientific meetings, such as the BSJ annual meeting, and lectures on botanical subjects.
(2) Publishing scientific journals and other books on botanical subjects.
(3) Encouraging botanical studies by the commendation of academic achievements.
(4) Communication and cooperation with other domestic or foreign scientific organizations that are concerned with botany.
